Dear Oxford Bach Choir Supporter

The first concert of our 118th season on Saturday 7th December will be a performance of Solomon, Handel’s great biblical oratorio.  Composed in 1748 it will be performed by the cin the Sheldonian Theatre, Oxford, with the London Mozart Players under the baton of Nicholas Cleobury our principal conductor.  This wonderful work is full of the most beautiful and moving music and includes the famous Arrival of the Queen of Sheba orchestral passage.  We have a stellar cast of young soloists including the talented Polish mezzo Hanna Hipp as Solomon.  Hanna graduated from the Jette Parker Young Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House this year and has been described as one of those performers who not only lights up the stage but also pervades infectious enthusiasm.  Alongside her will be Keri Fuge (soprano), Rebecca Afonwy-Jones (mezzo), Nick Pritchard (tenor) and Tristan Hambleton (bass).

Then on Saturday 21st December, come and join us as we celebrate Christmas in style with a fun programme of seasonal music for all the family, including many well-known favourites and our now legendary Twelve Days of Christmas.  We will be joined again by singers and instrumentalists from the Oxfordshire County Music Service.  Timothy Byram-Wigfield our Associate Conductor will be wielding the baton and we shall be accompanied by the young organist, Bertie Baigent.  Bertie is organ scholar at Jesus College, Cambridge; he is also a conductor and composer and has received many awards and accolades.

Tickets are available for both concerts from tickets@oxfordbachchoir.org and the Oxford Playhouse Box Office 01865 305305.  I do hope you will come and join us.; we look forward to seeing you!

With best wishes, Katy
